A Difficult Conversation with My Son

I was browsing Youtube the other day and I got suggested this video from Order of Man. I won’t spoil anything, but it is well-worth 7 minutes of your time.

A few things that really stood out to me from this dad’s story:

  1. He is willing to admit that he is not perfect, that he makes mistakes. In other words, he admits vulnerability.

  2. He recognizes the effect that his mistakes might have on his son.

  3. He makes it clear to his son that those mistakes are not the son’s fault.

  4. He takes responsibility for his mistakes and he takes action by apologizing.

  5. The dad’s willingness to engage vulnerability and take action leads to an intentional relationship building moment.
